Self asked: I don’t care about marketing and distribution, I just mean actual printing of a book. This would be a kids book with about 20-30 pages in color. What is the easiest and cheapest way to get this printed into a book format?

Give it to a printer.

E-publishing is one option.
Another is to do it through a local printer.

Color complicates matters and greatly increases printing costs. If you just want a few copies made in black & white, check at your local print shop. They should be able to do two-sided copies. Then, you can staple them in the center like many magazines. You can find printers who do larger runs and perfect binding in such magazines as “Writer’s Digest”. The more books you have printed, the less it costs per book. Some printers won’t produce less than 500 copies. Others have 250 minimum. Again, color is a problem. You can type your manuscript and have it xeroxed. Typesetting is much costlier. Who does your illustrations and covers? I am an author-artist, so I do everything on my books. Do you have a copyright on you book? You can get forms online now. It costs $30 to copyright your book.

A self-publishers. I know of a few, but my favourite one is it is totally FREE, you upload your manuscript, they make it a book, simple.
I’ve published with Lulu and the quality is amazing.
My book can be seen at in case you want to check the quality.
They offer colour books and b/w.
Hope this is helpful.
