What’s the going rate for hand drawn artwork?
just me asked:
My husband has been asked to create a 6 page, small coloring book as a give-a-way during the holidays for my company (chain of 15 retail stores) - very simple art of course - he just provides the art, the company will outsource for printing - we haven’t a clue what to charge. Any help is appreciated!

If he’s a working artist charge what he makes per hour…but if it’s a Favor for your job then give them a deal…
I would charge 25.00 per hour for simple outline drawings but if they request something related to your job products that was more technical then I’d ask for 50.00 per hour.

I saw at least $100 because he’s taking out of his own time to draw 6 pages of a kiddie book.

I gave a thumbs up for “gr8ful_one”s answer in that your husband should charge an hourly rate, depending on his skill level.
If the client wants an estimate, have your hubby figure in rough sketches, clients approval at various stages, and possible (heck, LIKELY!) rework time. Rule of thumb, however much time your husband thinks it may take, I’d advise him to DOUBLE it. The pros do this all the time, because projects ALWAYS take longer than one expects. That way, if it runs long, the artist loses nothing. If the project runs LESS time, the client is happy the deal runs under budget.
A couple of my earlier professional jobs was EXACTLY this kind of project, with a coloring book for a major electronics manufacturer for distribution to employees.
